A good start is half the work
Strong preparation makes for a good start. That is why we have set up a unique, exclusive pre-marital course, so that a marriage gets a solid foundation to build on afterwards.
Hisaab was founded in 2014 and, in the years since, has seen many journeys, some better than others. As a relationship coach we came across a wide range of challenges between couples. In most cases these could have been prevented with good communication and guidance beforehand.
That got us thinking: how can we support the community even better, so that more successful and lasting marriages come about? After all, good, lasting marriages create a strong Islamic generation, needed now more than ever.
The course is unique thanks to our experience in the field, our insights from life in the West with the challenges that come with it, and the Islamic principles we follow.
What does the course offer?
Often, a fair amount is already discussed before the nikaah, but there is a chance it happens superficially and without much thought. With people who have marital problems, we often see that certain questions were never asked, that no one probed further, or that some aspects were left untouched because they seemed self-evident. You are then left in a difficult spot once the nikaah has already taken place, sometimes with children involved, while it could still have been addressed before the marriage.
Our aim is to tackle future conflicts early, to make sensitive topics open for discussion, and to prepare a couple to step out into the world as a married pair. A couple should enter marriage with full awareness.
How does Hisaab give the course?
We first hold an intake with the couple to gain understanding. The course consists of at least five sessions. In each session we discuss a different topic, with the aim of sensing each other even better. The focus is on a tailored approach: making a unique couple, with its strengths and challenges, more resilient to what marriage brings. We help prevent pitfalls by offering insight in advance.
